Maine Initiatives is a public foundation. That means we pool donations from the general public and use the money to make grants to organizations that, because of their social change focus, generally receive little foundation support.

Major grants
Our major grants program makes grants of up to to $40,000 spread over a three-year period to nonprofits working for social, economic, and environmental justice and having a real impact on Maine communties.
Our major grant deadline is the second Friday in November.
